Malbec originates from France where it is still cultivated in Cahors. However most confuse Malbec to be an Argentinian wine since over 75% of the world’s Malbec is produced in Argentina. In 1956, Malbec suffered a devastating decline in France due to a devastating frost. Argentina became the new home for Malbec and even got a day labelled after it, every year on April 17th is Malbec day, a special day that celebrates the grape officially introduced to Argentina.

Malbec wines have distinct colour characteristics that includes a deep purple with fruit varieties such as blackberry, plum, and black cherry. Malbec has a smooth and velvety texture as well as being a grill masters dream for a fresh finisher to your barbecue. It goes together very well with steak, lamb and smoky barbecue thanks to its bold structure and dark fruit notes.
