The Chocolate Block South African Shiraz/Syrah 1 x 75cl

We are really pleased to have managed to acquire some cases  of the fabulous and famous Chocolate Block . Why not add a bottle or two to your next case and we think you will understand what all the fuss is about and why we  made it our wine of the month for January 2023.

The Chocolate Block is the iconic wine of the Boekenhoutskloof winery that was set up by winemaker Marc Kent in Franschoek, a small town in the Western Cape in the 1990s. It is one of the UKs most googled wines and demand for the wine is huge. It’s savoury richness and opulent style has always been a hit with wine lovers but recent vintages have shown an extra finesse to the wine.

“The dark fruit character of the nose follows through onto an exceptionally complex, juicy palate with gentle nuances of ripe plums, violets, black olives, cloves and liquorice.” The Boekenhoutskloof Winery

A Red wine from Franschhoek, Coastal Region, Western Cape, South Africa. Made from 71% Shiraz/Syrah, 11% Grenache, 9% Cinsault, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon, …

It’s made by maverick winemaker Marc Kent whose Boekenhoutskloof winery was recently named South Africa’s ‘Winery of the Year 2020’.

Marc’s keeps very quiet  about how exactly this wine is made – but that only adds to its allure. However, what you can say is the quality is always outstanding
