Steak is a go-to celebration dinner for many, and for the amount we can spend on the most delicious of steaks, it only makes sense to pair it with the perfect red wine. For this case, we’ve selected six of our favourite red wines to pair with steak. Each red wine brings its own uniqueness to the table, but they all have one thing in common – they were born to enjoy with steak.

What’s inside?

We’ve started this case of excellent red wines in Italy, with the elegant Le Clivie Primitivo. This wine is warm and enveloping with notes of cherry and plum, characteristic of the grape. Another wine with a long finish, the Farfalla Sangiovese is also a fantastic Italian wine to pair with steak. From the beautiful island of Sicily, we have also added the Tandem Cabernet Sauvignon/Nero D’Avola which combines the two robust grape varieties for another rich red which holds its own against even the juiciest of steaks.

The French Hornhead Malbec is a striking wine in a striking bottle: it’s a delicious, juicy, mouth-filling Malbec which we find is a little more approachable than similar wines. Known for their quality, the French winery Baron Phillippe de Rothschild is another great addition to this steak pairing case, with intense aromas of black berries.

From the other side of the globe, Australian Shiraz Don’t Tell Gary is not for the faint-hearted – perhaps our most intense wine in this case, it also provides a smoothness which is most welcome.
